Join us (TORONTO GRANDMOTHERS GROUP) for the launch of Contemporary African Voices, a webinar series shining a light on acclaimed sub-Saharan writers. Please see the poster here. The series aims to amplify African voices and to educate by introducing stories deeply rooted in Africa written by Africans. We come to know a country by reading its writers.
Travelling virtually to Nigeria via Zoom, we will welcome Dr. Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onuobia, for the release in Canada of her debut novel, The Son of the House. She is a human rights lawyer, academic and writer who works in Nigeria in the areas of health, gender and violence against women and children. Pulsing with vitality and intense human drama, The Son of the House is set against four decades of life in vibrant Nigeria, celebrating the resilience of women as they navigate and transform what still remains a man’s world.
