For the past 12 years, grandmothers groups and their supporters walk together physically, or virtually, to raise funds in support of grandmothers and their community-led organizations in sub-Saharan Africa who are responding to the AIDS pandemic.
To date, their collective efforts have raised over $2.7 million. Support for African grandmothers and their community-led organizations remains urgent as they respond to the new and emerging needs of the global economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, while continuing their work in response to HIV and AIDS.

Our UJAMAA GRANDMAS teams have been raising funds since June 2020. Goals for distance accomplished & fundraising are set, members sign-up and are requested to keep track of their activities (1 hour of activity = 5 km). Examples of activities reported are walking, cycling, golfing, knitting, sewing, crafting, gardening, housecleaning, etc. The activity totals are measured in distance on a map of African countries where SLF is present.
